My Money Savings.

For starters I have been doing a lot of this.

I have only used the dryer twice for loads that was not completely dry in the last 2 months.
I have had a few days where I had more clothes than I could deal with waiting on the weather. Speaking of weather I learned the trick to winter drying. You can dry your clothes outside if
 A. It's Sunny and above freezing or
B. Cloudy and above 50 degrees!

Don't hold me to those but that is what I have read. Another thing I have learned is that clothes are not dirty just because you ware them for a few minutes. My family is so bad about this but I really excepted it as routine/normal. I know I have tried this in the past and felt my clothes were dirty if I put the in a different place other than the clean clothes. So I tried putting the clothes back in with the clean clothes and guess what no one has noticed! If it is dirty it gets cleaned but if they only wore it for a short time I will put it back in their closet.  I have so much less laundry! Next I will work on the towel situation. I think we can use or towel more than once.

We have used the air conditioner a few times this month, but for the most part I have had the windows and doors open for air. I have been a stickler about the electric this month going as far as to check and see how much we have used every week. I am very happy to announce my electric bill for next month will be $54.04!  That is for 4 people! In August it was $170 ish.

What a great month! Are you doing anything different to save money.

Sadly, I'm not doing anything different to save money :-(

In my defense, it seems like everytime I vow to spend less, I somehow end up spending more!

I have been hanging clothes up/out to dry for years, though. Mostly because it reminds me of my kidhood.
But I also figured out some things, like that clothes with any of that screen printing will eventually start fading and peeling and looking really bad if dried in the dryer, and also that the dryer shrinks clothes, even supposedly pre-shrunk stuff.
My husband kept "out growing" his shirts. I kep accusing him of putting on weight, when he wasn't. I was shrinking them.

In the winter I hang the clothes on a hanger and hang them on the trim of my laundryroom or diningroom doorway to dry.

Ya I have a feeling that I am going to have to be drying indoors this winter. It would be nice if I had one of those quick lines you just pull an hook it only when you need it. Oh well Ill work it out.

Yea a retractable clothesline. Home depot has them, about $10 I think.

But they are big, like the size of a dinnerplate. I used to have a smaller one but I can't find it and I don't want one that big.

I bought a smaller one at a yard sale over the summer, it was a Coleman camping retractable clothes line. Piece of junk, I hung clothes on it and it stretched til my clothes were on the porch floor. John had to tie the thing to the posts. So much for retractable.
